Paradox Interactive and Triumph Studios announced today Age of Wonders 4the first sequel in nine years to the award-winning fantasy strategy series.
The fourth game brings new levels of customization and replayability to the game’s empire-building, role-playing, and tactical combat.
In the game, the wizard kings have returned to the world and ruled mortals as gods. You can use magic books to challenge their rule. These tomes will help you unleash arcane havoc on their armies and change their form to gain new abilities.
For the first time in the series, you can create custom factions and leave your mark with every choice you make.

- Create the empire of your wildest fantasies: Forge your followers by combining physical forms, social traits, and mystical powers. Build anything from a clan of cannibal halflings to mysterious moon elves, or recreate your favorite fantasy tropes. Find powerful spellbooks to confuse your armies, and watch your people physically transform as they transform into angelic beings or offspring of chaos to face their enemies.
- Strategy meets RPG like never before: every choice brings new possibilities and tactical advantages; deep, multi-layered strategy lets you try new tactics or explore new powers at any time. Tactical turn-based combat brings your army to life, from skirmishes with roaming monsters to massive sieges with many units on both sides.
- Write your own legend: The new event system provides an unexpected level of storytelling for 4X games. Watch as your decisions shape the world around you as you seek glory through brutal domination, cunning alliances, or ultimate arcane knowledge. Age of Wonders 4 will be released on May 2, 2023 for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
