news culture Al Pacino at the Game Awards: “Actors improve video games”
The Game Awards 2022 got off to a flying start with a surprise guest that no one expected to see on stage at this event! Geoff Keighley actually decided to start the ceremony by calling the famous Al Pacino.
Al Pacino rewards the best video game actors
During the famous ceremony of Game award 2022 had just begun, presenter Geoff Keighley decided to surprise everyone by calling a very big name in American cinema onto the stage: the legendary Al Pacino. If this choice could surprise both the viewers present on site and the very large number of viewers on YouTube and on Twitch, in the end it is not so trivial since the great actor, producer and screenwriter at 82 years old was able to announce the winner of the category “Best Performance”which rewards the best actors and actresses in video games.
On this occasion, Al Pacino took the opportunity to share his thoughts on the video game, and suffice it to say it was free. Although he does “Don’t play much video games” he himself confessed to spending a lot of time watching his children play. He could be like that “Impressed by the unique way games tell their stories”and especially by the performance of the actors. Al Pacino then ended his speech with that statement “Actors Take Video Games to New Heights”before the winner is announced.
Kratos raffles the mise
The selection of nominees in the Best Performance category was scheduled and nothing was decided in advance. If God of War left Ragnarok with a head start, offering two roles for the same game, let’s not forget, for example, the performances of Ashly Burch for Horizon: Forbidden West or Charlotte McBurney for A Plague Tale: Requiem. As a reminder, the nominees were:
- Ashly Burch, Horizon: The Forbidden West
- Charlotte McBurney, A Plague Tale: Requiem
- Christopher Judge, God of War: Ragnarok
- Manon Gage, Immortality
- Sunny Suljic, God of War: Ragnarök
And it was Christopher Judge who walked onto the stage alongside Al Pacino to recover the precious statuette. Awarded for his work embodying the character of Kratos in God of War Ragnarokhe was visibly touched and threw himself into a long speech to thank his loved ones.

This Games Awards 2022 will see a duel at the top for the GOTY title: on the one hand the imposing Elden Ring and on the other hand the sequel to the GOTY of 2018, God of War: Ragnarok. A Plague Tale: Requiem is also nominated in many categories and we hope that the French game will win some awards. From the announcement page, we already know quite a bit. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will be there, as will Hideo Kojima’s next game, which the bastard has been teasing for quite some time. Final Fantasy XVI producer Naoki Yoshida will also pass a head during the ceremony for a “very special presentation” ! Suffice it to say that we’re expecting news about Square Enix’s flagship license and, in particular, a release date for FF16. We also expect a new side of Crash Bandicoot and Tekken 8.
