Alan Wake 2 finally has a release date, but remedial entertainment It has been shared that it will only be available digitally.

Earlier this week, Remedy Entertainment finally revealed its proper take on the upcoming survival horror game Alan Wake 2, the long-awaited sequel to the 2010 original. So far, it looks pretty good, but for the physical collectors out there, you’re going to hit a few snags: according to Remedy itself, there are currently no plans to release a physical version, apparently because that would mean it could lower the game cost.

Remedy shared an FAQ shortly after its launch at the PlayStation showcase, discussing some of the most pressing questions some of you may have had, as well as some you may not have. Remedy wrote early on in its FAQ that it would be available digitally on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, before explaining why this decision was made. In response to the question “Why is Alan Wake 2 digital?” Remedy wrote, “There are many reasons.

“On the one hand, a large number of [players] Has moved to numbers only. You can buy Sony’s PlayStation 5 without a disc drive, while Microsoft’s Xbox Series S is a digital-only console. It’s not uncommon for modern games to be released in purely digital form. Second, not releasing a disc helps keep the game’s price at $59.99/$59.99, and the PC version at $49.99/$49.99. Finally, we didn’t want to release a disc product and require a game download – we didn’t think that would make for a great experience either. ”

That last point may refer to the growing trend of physical disc games that are basically just glorified download codes, which many players have expressed frustration with. The FAQ also states that “there are currently no plans to release Alan Wake 2 on disc”. This obviously doesn’t rule out a future release, but don’t place any bets on it.

At least we know there will be a lot of Alan Wake, as the FAQ also shared that there will be an Expansion Pass that will include two big DLCs, the Night Springs Expansion and the Lake House expansion. While there are no release windows for these, we also know that Alan Wake 2 will release on October 17th, just a few months away.
