One of the biggest announcements at this year’s Game Awards was certainly Alan Wake 2. Another crucial piece of information about the sequel has now been confirmed.
After many rumors, the development of Alan Wake 2 was finally officially confirmed at the Game Awards recently. The sequel is again being produced by Remedy Entertainment, but this time as part of a cooperation with Epic Games and a new direction as a more classic survival horror title. Another circumstance should ensure a good, well-known feeling for returning players.
The director Sam Lake has now spoken on Twitter and confirmed that the protagonist Alan Wake is portrayed by the same cast in the sequel as in the first part. Years after the original release of the first part, the main actor will feel by and large the same in the follow-up – both in terms of movements and vocal pattern.
Ilkka Villi will return to the set for the motion capturing, that is, the recording of the movements; Alan Wake will therefore move in the same way as in the first part, but of course he will receive all sorts of technical improvements for an even more realistic look. The numerous lines of text are spoken again by Matthew Porretta.
Fans of the franchise should welcome this fact, after all it is not a matter of course that after years of abstinence from a series of games, the original actors can then be used again for a successor or can be inspired for such a successor. For example, there were new protagonists in God of War from 2018 or in Metal Gear Solid V.
Lake also confirmed that Alan Wake 2 will continue to be a third-person game despite the reorientation as a survival horror title. In particular, the main actor is not controlled from the first-person perspective.
Alan Wake 2 will be released in 2023 for PC, Xbox Series X / S and PS5.
