GTA Online receives its next major update in December 2020: The Cayo Perico Heist comes not only with a new robbery, which should be particularly interesting for solo players, but also with its very own map expansion: the eponymous island Cayo Perico.

Content: What’s in the December update?
New Heist: The Cayo Perico Heist will be a completely new heist that you can tackle alone or with up to three friends. As usual for the previous heist of GTA Online, you can make use of different tactics and challenges.
New map extension: The Cayo Perico Heist takes place on a completely new map expansion: the eponymous island of the update. You can see exactly what it looks like in the head section of this article, where we have included the latest trailer for Cayo Perico. You can see the first trailer here:

After the game world of GTA Online has already been expanded once with the Diamond Casino Resort, there is a new expansion of the map with the December update. And it has it all: A complete island is available for you to explore.
According to Rockstar, there should be various “social spaces” on the island that you and your fellow players can use to dance and party – probably not unlike the nightclubs of GTA Online. This suggests that you could explore Cayo Perico outside of the Heist.
With the Cayo Perico Heist itself, according to the official information from Rockstar, you are targeting the assets of a drug lord who has holed up on the heavily guarded island: objects of art, gold and drug money are therefore waiting to be looted by you.
New vehicles and weapons: The Cayo Perico Heist will provide you with new weapons and vehicles, for which there is currently no concrete information. In addition, a heavily armed submarine with “many surprises” should be available to you.
New radio stations and club: With the Cayo Perico Heist, GTA Online is also being expanded to include new radio stations that should offer you up to 100 new songs. Rockstar has already presented the new underground club “The Music Locker”, which is moving into the basement of the Diamond Casino Resort.
As part of this musical update for GTA Online, there will be new music from new artists such as Moodymand, Keinemusik and Palm Trax. Casino penthouse owners also have access to a separate VIP area – but what exactly awaits players there is not yet known. Release: When does the Heist update appear?
The release date of the Cayo Perico Heist falls on the December 15, 2020. This means that the “biggest update to date” for GTA Online will be released this year before the NextGen version of GTA 5 for Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X will be launched in 2021.
Incidentally, this is also interesting for PC gamers, and an update of the GTA 5 version for the home computer should also take place in parallel.

What does the new GTA Online expansion cost?
The Cayo Perico Heist should come free for owners of GTA 5. So far, not a single expansion for GTA Online has cost money, which is unlikely to change with the update released in December 2020.
Nevertheless, fans can expect that one or the other new content from GTA Online could be quite expensive in terms of in-game cash. After all, Rockstar Games relies on Shark Cards available for real money for the multiplayer mode of GTA 5. Veterans should now have enough saved GTA dollars on their side.
Why is the new Heist interesting for single player fans?
Cayo Perico Heist is the first GTA Online Heist that you contest alone and without a teammate may. Of course, you can also attack the robbery with up to three friends in co-op, but the mission is also open to you solo.
However, single player fans should note: The GTA Online Heists are some of the trickiest and most challenging missions in the game. Your character should already have a high level so that you can take more and have better weapons and larger ammunition capacities.

@valivarlowWith the new update for GTA Online, Rockstar is taking exactly the right step: For years, fans have wanted a single-player DLC for Grand Theft Auto 5 that they will probably never get: GTA Online’s multiplayer mode is simply too successful and too lucrative .
What’s the perfect compromise? To deliver an update that serves both co-op fans and solo players alike. Of course, on the one hand I’m looking forward to working with my friends on the new content for GTA Online. But not every player has time every evening, which is what got in the way of the past heists of GTA Online: You need exactly four players to pounce on the loot for almost every robbery. And looking for a strange heist friend is of course associated with a corresponding risk.
Now Rockstar finally gives me the opportunity to throw myself into the most demanding, complex and therefore most fun missions of GTA Online. However, it will be exciting to see how the balancing should turn out, as the heists of the multiplayer mode are always quite crisp and demanding. But I will remain optimistic in this regard until we get more official details.
Because of course something remains open: How exactly does the new Heist play? Are there any disadvantages when I’m traveling alone? And how long does the mission keep me going? It’s not long until December 15th and I’m definitely looking forward to spending the cold winter days in the tropical setting of Cayo Perico Island.
