The CitizenCon 2952 is over and had some announcements about Star Citizen up its sleeve, which the developers wanted to completely change the game. You can find out what new content and features are being introduced, and all the trailers and videos that have been released here. So that you don’t scroll your fingers sore, you can also navigate through the article with our table of contents:
You can read about what Star Citizen has already achieved in 10 years of development in our article on the anniversary theme week:

What about Squadron 42?
Star Citizen’s single-player campaign was also a topic of conversation at CitizenCon, although there weren’t any notable announcements or updates here. But there was actually something to see: The recordings of the new control modes were probably taken in Squadron 42, as they were initially developed for this.
First impressions of Pyro
For almost half an hour the planets of the coming system Pyro were presented. We are already getting impressive images of the very diverse celestial bodies. Here’s how we see a planet covered all over in blue crystals, but also more vivid landscapes:

Among other things, we see smaller forests, oceans, gigantic craters and much more.
New Quests: Investigations
With the investigations, not only a new type of quests, but a whole new style of play in Star Citizen should be possible in the future. Here you are not active as a discoverer or fighter, but investigate mysterious incidents and get to the bottom of secrets like a detective:

Star Citizen: With the new investigation missions you become a space detective
After thinking through various concepts, the developers have agreed to make the new missions relatively open. So you look here independently (and without exact quest markers) for clues that then lead you to new places or come to a preliminary conclusion.
You can, after discovering some clues, decide to accept the probable solution to the riddle at that moment and complete the quest. However, if you investigate further and find all the clues, you will find out the truth and get a bonus reward.
Underground facilities presented
Also in development are large planetary factories and warehouses, mostly located underground. You should then probably be able to explore these as part of missions and offer players plenty of gameplay opportunities. So you can either sneak through the facility and fight to steal certain items. Or you solve puzzles to get ahead.

In the video above, the developers explain what the new industrial plants should look like and what they had in mind when designing them. However, many of these ideas are still in the concept phase and will take a while to be implemented.
New speed modes
Initially, the developers are working on a fundamental change in the ship controls, especially for the Squadron 42 single-player campaign. But this should probably also come to the persistent universe with Alpha 4.0.

Star Citizen: Master Modes are designed to completely transform ship battles
In the video, the developers explain that, in their opinion, battles between spaceships have often been too fast. Ships flew past each other at high speed, firing at each other, and were well apart before they could turn around and repeat the process. The fear now was that the fights would feel pretty boring.
In order to solve this problem, two different operating modes are now to be introduced. In the standard control mode, you can use your weapons and shields, but your speed is limited to 200 to 300 meters per second. On the other hand, if you want to use your quantum drive to achieve significantly higher speeds, weapons and shields will be disabled.
This opens up new gameplay possibilities, so before a possible fight you can now decide to try to escape and switch to Quantum mode. But then you are briefly unprotected. Certain ship types can then take advantage of this, for example being able to jam your quantum drive to prevent you from escaping.
Revised Lorville

Also shown were plans for a revamped Lorville, Star Citizen’s first city. This should be significantly larger and offer more space for reconnaissance flights. Several landing pads will also be set up, from which you can later explore interiors. The environments around the landing sites will also be made more detailed.
Finally multicrew gameplay?
Next, the developers talked about how resource management should fundamentally change Star Citizen. For example, in the future you will have to take care to maintain the balance of energy, fuel and coolant in your ship. The life support systems should also consume resources that you must always have on board. You can also switch off certain systems, such as artificial gravity, to save energy.
You should also be able to determine exactly how and where your ship’s resources and energy are distributed. You can see how this works from about nine minutes in the video:

Star Citizen: With the resource management you have full control over your ship
If your ship is damaged, you can replace or repair individual components. If you replace them with better parts, you can even increase the performance of your ship. On ships with multiple crew members, the captain can assign roles and grant access to certain controls of the ship. For example, as a tactical officer you distribute power to the various shields, as an engineer you carry out repairs and as a gunner you control the ship’s weapons.
It will probably be a while before all these features are ready. But this big announcement probably confirms the opinion of editor Peter:

Why the dream of a space MMO is far from over
New Ships
Unsurprisingly, several new ships and vehicles were also unveiled at CitizenCon. You can also see them in the video here, below we briefly summarize which ships have been announced and what makes them special.

- Crusader Spirit: Has room for two crew members and is available in three variants. You can purchase it as either a cargo ship, bomber or luxury ship for transporting VIPs.
- Drake Corsair: Medium-sized ship with space for up to four crew members, which is primarily used for exploration. With this robust ship you can spend long periods away from civilization and discover uninhabited planets. In addition, it also has numerous weapons.
- Greycat STV: This fast off-road vehicle has already been released and is ideal for racing with your fellow players and exploring planets from the ground. The vehicle has two seats.
Life as an outlaw

In a four-minute video, Star Citizen shows what life is supposed to be like in the less civilized and lawless corners of the universe. If you see yourself more as an outlaw, then you should look around for suitable opportunities here.

Finally, the developers present the revised community hub, which you can already try out for yourself. This should enable the Star Citizen community to share and find fan content more easily, and to communicate with other players. It also shows that the Star Citizen community is capable of impressive things this sample of a fan made game.
