Warhammer 40,000: Space Marines 2 has been such a huge success that its developers are already considering a sequel and DLC.
Despite being more than a decade old, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marines 2 has done quite well in its own right – so much so that it’s become one of the biggest games of the year. Of course, the game also has an online component and more updates to come, and if you start thinking about DLC, especially with a sequel in mind, you might be a little over the top. However, in a new interview with IGN, Saber Interactive Chief Creative Officer Tim Willits said that despite the game’s recent release, the game’s director is already thinking about both of these things.

“Our game director, Dmitry Grigorenko, has come up with some story ideas that could be either DLC or a sequel,” said Willits. “We’re really just taking a breath. There’s still two weeks until launch. We just need to let the dust settle. But I can confidently say that we won’t disappoint Warhammer fans in the future. That’s a big win! I know it’s obvious, but hopefully we’ll be committed to Space Marines for the long haul.”
Obviously, it’s going to be a while, but Willetts seems very keen to work with publishers Focus Entertainment and Games Workshop to get this done. “We have to figure it out. I’d love to do it, yes,” Willetts said. “Yes, yes, yes! There are lots of different factions… There are other chapters, which are fun too…”
This will obviously be exciting for those devoted Space Marines out there, but game development takes a long time these days, so just stick with your current game for now.
Our own Connor is a huge fan of the game, giving it 4/5 stars in his review, writing: “Space Marines 2 is a winning game. It’s a must-buy for Warhammer fans, and an absolute steal for anyone who enjoys playing games. I hope you consider yourself part of that outstanding group. Space Marines 2 is one of the best Warhammer games ever made, and one of the most dangerous plastic dope starters I’ve ever seen.”
