Google has already ventured further into the gaming area with the game streaming platform Stadia, and Amazon is expected to follow suit this year – as expected. In this regard, a new report by the renowned reveals New York Times
There it says that Amazon is investing in the gaming division on a large scale in order to establish itself as a key company within the industry. It is "the most significant investment in own entertainment" since the start of the production of own TV shows and films.
A large part of the estimated funds should flow into Amazon's own cloud gaming service, which is currently called Project Tempo internally. There have been rumors surrounding such a streaming service from the internet giant for a long time, and now the project's code name has also appeared on the Internet for the first time.
Further details on the service are still in short supply, but according to the New York Times an early version of this should start in the current year 2020. However, a shift to the year 2021 cannot be ruled out – possibly due to the current developments relating to the corona virus.
At the same time, the cloud is only one of Amazon's gaming pillars, because it continues to rely on its own development studios. With the MMO New World and the multiplayer studio Crucible, two titles are already known that are to be released in May.
