Who are you calling? Ghostbusters! A new trailer for Ghostbusters: The Ice Menace is here and it doesn’t hesitate to play the nostalgia card to convince.
“Ghostbusters Frozen Empire” is the name of the next Ghostbusters film starring Paul Rudd, Finn Wolfhard and some of the veterans including Dan Aykroyd (Ray), Bill Murray (Venkman), Ernie Hudson (Winston) and Annie Potts (Janine). And for this fourth feature, Ivan Reitman’s cult franchise has decided to return to its roots by bringing the action back to New York and once again bringing in some familiar faces.
Ghostbusters Frozen Empire eats everything in its new trailer
The ultra-cult Ghostbusters franchise isn’t dead and will return this year with Ghostbusters: The Ice Menace. A film that wants to be both a homage to the first two absolutely essential episodes and an expansion with the arrival of budding hunters like Finn Wolfhard (Stranger Things). So return to New York, where the Ghostbusters’ real headquarters is located, which is unsurprisingly plagued by ectoplasm and an evil force that will bring an icy cold to the Big Apple.
And for this new trailer for Ghostbusters Frozen Empire, director Gil Kenan (Monster House, Poltergeist from 2015…) doesn’t skimp on fan service. In addition to the actors from the first films, we see ghosts such as the Ghost of the Library and the wonderful Bouffe-tout. Nothing has changed for this creature as it stuffs itself as much as it can and travels through Trevor’s body, leaving a bit of slime behind. The innuendos aren’t subtle, but perhaps Gil Kenan is reconciling fans? In any case, that’s clearly his goal when he sees this new trailer, and some people are going to melt.
“The Spengler family returns to where it all began – New York’s famous firehouse – to team up with the original Ghostbusters, who have built a top-secret research lab to take ghosts to the next level. But when the discovery of an ancient artifact unleashes an evil force, Ghostbusters new and old must join forces to protect their home and save the world from a second Ice Age.. See you on April 10, 2024 in theaters for Ghostbusters Frozen Empire.
