Ubisoft is now also heralding the fourth season including the season pass in the long-running Anno 1800. You can also expect an award-winning game mode in the title.
The French developer and publisher has now given a first preview of Season 4 of Anno 1800 and in this context has confirmed the game mode called “Eden at the End”, which has won the UNEP Choice Award. This should be available free of charge from December 14th. The focus is on sustainable practices and their effects on a city’s ecosystem, which can be explored first in the new scenario game mode.
Ubisoft is not only celebrating another milestone with the free new mode: Recently, Anno 1800 exceeded the mark of two million players and therefore there are also two ship skins – one for the battle cruiser and one for the ship of the line.
The “Eden at the end” mode was first introduced during the Green Game Jam 2021 and is essentially a scenario mode. The first Eden scenario contains a roguelike mechanic intended to convey the dangers of an exploitative economy for the environment. You need to complete an industrial project without destroying your ecosystem and weighing the effects of using renewable and non-renewable resources. Your choices will have positive or negative effects on the environment – and those who favor sustainable practices will get the best results.
While the game mode is offered free of charge, there will be three full DLC packages in the coming year as part of the Season 4 Pass. These paid packages are then accompanied by at least one new scenario for the mode.
In general, Ubisoft is moving more ecological aspects into focus. For example, from December 14th you will also be able to buy the DLC “Plant a Tree” in order to receive a new ornamental tree that you can plant in your city. Ubisoft forwards at least 1 euro from every purchase of such a DLC to Ecologi as an environmentally friendly partner. After March 31, 2022, the DLC will be removed from the shop, but players who own the DLC will keep it in their account. The ornament will also be given away for free later in 2022.
