Anno 1800 is not only one of the most successful PC games, but also one of the most successful titles ever from Germany. Now, surprisingly, the strategy epic is also coming to consoles.
Although an official announcement of a console version of Anno 1800 is still pending, Ubisoft Blue Byte has already revealed itself elsewhere. E-mail invitations were sent to players of the title, inviting them to a technical test of the game on the new PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S platforms. However, PS4 and Xbox One are not mentioned, so that the last generation seems to be avoided.
The test run is supposed to start on November 3rd; then the test phase will probably run until November 13th. Applications for the test phase are under selection of the preferred platform already possible. However, those lucky enough to be able to participate will then have to sign an NDA and will not be able to publicly communicate or show gameplay about their experiences with the console version until further notice.
As Gameswirtschaft.de reported, the console version of the PC hit, codenamed “Project Laubenheim”, is to be subsidized with almost 1.5 million dollars by the Federal Ministry of Economics. In this respect, Ubisoft is being awarded one of the highest sums in Germany that has ever been paid out as part of state funding for computer games.
It is not yet known when the strategy epic, originally released for PC in April 2019, will be available as a full version for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. According to reports, further information on this will not be available until the beginning of 2023.
