The key product of the Apple WWDC 2022 conference was of course the brand new MacBook Air. Here’s what we can say about it and what we need to remember.
During this new Apple keynote, the new MacBook Air was introduced to the world. So is this a REVOLUTION? Let’s see.
A converted Apple MacBook Air
The first element to note first in terms of design is the overall thinness of the product, which is just 11.3mm. For comparison, the 2018 version was 16.1mm thick. Apple also rounded the corners to offer a case with softer lines. Namely, this MacBook Air offers several colors: Silver, Stellar Light, Space Gray and Midnight, did you say pompous?
Its new screen is comfortable with a new 13.6-inch Liquid Retina display with better brightness, namely 500 nits here versus 400 before. For connectivity, Apple has chosen a famous MagSafe (wireless charging) socket on the left edge, and the right side typically features two USB-C Thunderbolt 4 ports and a 3.5mm jack.
The keyboard is also different with a Magic Keyboard similar to the one already present on the latest MacBook Pro. Great news.
A new firepower
Of course, its great novelty is its brand new Apple M2 chip, which improves performance thanks to its 8 CPU cores and 10 GPU cores, as well as the possibility of supporting it with 24 GB of RAM. During its conference, Apple particularly pointed out better performance for advanced tasks and a new autonomy of up to 18 hours. On the performance side, we will see +18% in the CPU, +35% in the GPU. It’s still impressive.
This Apple MacBook Air will be available in July from 1499 dollars.
