It’s that time again. Apple has introduced the next generation of iPhones and draws a clear dividing line between normal and Pro models. The prices: astronomical.
Apple unveils its new iPhones every year, and of course this is also an issue for gamers, given the growing mobile gaming market. The iPhone 14 is represented by four models, all of which will be launched in September and October.
It starts with the quasi-standard models iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus. Compared to the predecessors, not so much has changed – both models continue to rely on the A15 chip, which was also installed in the predecessor, albeit with an improved battery life. The iPhone 14 comes with a 6.1-inch OLED display, with the Plus you can look forward to 6.7 inches. The cameras of both models should be more light-sensitive and, above all, faster when focusing and triggering, but it remains at 12 megapixels. The front camera has also been slightly improved.
The iPhone 14 is scheduled to be launched on September 16, with prices starting at around 999 dollars for the 128 GB variant. The iPhone 14 Plus will come a little later, on October 7th. Here, around 1,149 dollars are due for the smallest model. The storage variants are 128, 256 and 512 GB.
If you want more power, you have to use the new Pro models, which have the new A16 bionic chip installed. Thanks to the new manufacturing process, the same should once again achieve a significant leap in performance compared to the A15. The iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Plus models also come with 6.1 and 6.7 inch displays, respectively, and now with always-on functions thanks to new LTPO panels. The main camera is 48MP with pixel binning, bringing the final resolution back to 12MP with more detail, while the telecamera stays at 12MP but has upgraded lenses and sensors.
In terms of price, it will be painful for the Pro models, both of which are scheduled to appear on September 16th. The iPhone 14 Pro starts at 1,299 dollars, the Pro Plus at over 1,449 dollars. You have the choice of 128, 256 and 512 GB as well as 1 TB of storage.
The iPhone 13 was still available from 899 dollars, so Apple has noticeably increased the prices. Pre-orders for the new models will be possible from September 9th, and the update to iOS 16 will follow on September 12th.
