at Congstar there is a new subscription model for Apple products. The subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom now gives you the choice: You can purchase your next smartphone or tablet with a one-off payment, use installment financing or rent the devices for 24 or 36 months.
The rental option is available immediately and is kept flexible. The iPad Pro models are rented for 36 months, with iPhones it is 24 months. You can then upgrade directly to a successor model if you wish.

It is also possible to buy the device out of the subscription with an installment payment or to switch to a new model earlier for a fee. Otherwise you will return the device in a “proper condition” after the subscription has expired.
With the contractual partner C2 Circle GmbH, over which the rental agreement runs, there is an important note in the general terms and conditions. Before returning it, you have to describe the condition of the device.
C2 Circle GmbH then gives an assessment of whether the product is in a “contractual condition”. If this is not the case, you will have to pay compensation – for example, if you have fallen damaged.
Rent cheaper than financing – with the exception
The monthly rental costs are usually below those of financing. Congstar deducts the residual value of the equipment from the start after the rental period. The price difference is between around two and 15 dollars, depending on the product. There is no one-off down payment.
