News culture Apple TV +: Foundation sci-fi series (Isaac Asimov) has a release date
Autumn is all about science fiction. On the one hand, the film adaptation of the novel Düne by Frank Herbert by Denis Villeneuve. On the other hand, that of Foundation, the work of Isaac Asimov published in the 1940s that was overseen by Apple TV +.
In addition to an epic trailer, Apple has confirmed the release of the Foundation series next fall.. This is the first television adaptation of Isaac Asimov’s novel series.
Ten episodes will be available for this first season and the first three will be available for streaming on launch day.. The seven episodes are published weekly, every Friday.
For those unfamiliar with Asimov’s work, here is a summary : Predicting an imminent fall of the Empire, Dr. Hari Seldon with a group of revolutionaries into the vastness of the galaxy with the aim of establishing the foundation to preserve the future of civilization and give it a chance to rebuild. The ancestry of the Cleons in power fears their influence on the galaxy will wane as the inevitable reality that looms large threatens to wipe their legacy forever.
The series thus promises a strong political dimension and an action-packed plot.. Worn by showrunner David Goyer (The dark knight), the casting is based in particular on the presence of Jared Harris (Crazy men, Chernobyl), Lee Tempo (The hobbits), Alfred Henoch (How to get away with murder) and many others like Lou Llobell, Leah Harvey, Terrence Mann, and Cassian Bilton.
On the occasion of the release of this new trailer, David Goyer spoke about the adaptation:
In the decades since the Foundation series was first published, Asimov’s prophetic science fiction work has never been as relevant as it is today. I devoured Foundation growing up and dreamed of seeing it on screen one day, but a feature film didn’t seem big enough to fulfill that ambition. Thanks to the wider streaming landscape and a valuable partnership with Apple and Skydance, we can bring the series to the silver screen in a way that really does justice to it. – David Goyer, showrunner on the series
Foundation, the science fiction series based on the novels by Isaac Asimov, will be available on the Apple TV + streaming platform from September 24th. Three episodes will be available immediately, while the others will be released every Friday at the rate of one per week.
