Fans have high hopes for the new part of the Assassin’s Creed series: Codename Red. The game, which is set in feudal Japan, has not yet been introduced, which is why we have to rely on insider information. These come from the generally well-informed colleagues at Insider Gaming.
Scenes from Assassin’s Creed: Codename Red have now been leaked to them from anonymous sources, but (logically) they cannot simply be published. However, share Insider Gaming the new information gained from the sources and the material, which revolves around the areas of engine, combat and base building.
Accordingly, Assassin’s Creed: Red should also lay the foundation for the future of the franchise as a whole, because it will be the first game in the action series to use the seriously redesigned engine called “Anvil Pipeline”. Through “Anvil Pipeline”, Ubisoft wants to ensure that the various Assassin’s Creed studios – and there are quite a few of them – can work on a uniform, modern platform. There will no longer be different engine versions in the future, but rather a uniform basis for the various franchise offshoots. This revamped engine also brings with it a whole host of new technical features such as ray-traced global illumination and more, ushering in a “new era” for the franchise.
The switch to “Anvil Pipeline” required a lot of work for the development teams, because virtually all elements of the series such as animations, parkour system, dynamic weather and more had to be put on a new footing and reworked.
As far as the fights in Assassin’s Creed: Red are concerned, according to insiders, they will be similar to those in Valhalla, but with one change: it will be significantly bloodier – decapitations included. However, stealth elements will continue to play a fundamental role and should be comparable to Splinter Cell. You can put out torches to make the environment shadier and darker, hide them in tall grass or bushes, and more.
The material presented also showed that a feature from Valhalla will return and will also be significantly developed further: base building. In Red you can build your so-called “Hideout”. There are many different types of buildings available to you in this settlement, including an armory. The buildings can be customized so that you can, for example, change and adapt the roof design or the room layout.
Finally, the insiders speak of a “gigantic leap” for the already successful franchise, so the expectations for Assassin’s Creed: Red don’t seem to be getting any smaller. It remains to be seen when there will be official information from Ubisoft about the new game, in which there will be two main characters, Naoe and Yasuke.
