Back to basics, it’s Assassin’s Creed: Mirage. More assassination, more stealth, but apparently that doesn’t mean you have to give up some liberties.
After three open-world action role-playing games, Assassin’s Creed: Mirage is supposed to take the series back to its roots and put sneaking and secret assassinations in the foreground again – so it’s more based on the older titles. Maybe a good idea, because despite the massive success of Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla, there has been quite a bit of fan fatigue towards the open-world concept.
Interestingly, that doesn’t seem to mean that you have to give up certain freedoms. As Narrative Direc tor Sarah Beaulieu did in an interview with Wccftech
“You can do each goal however you want, in the order you want, without making any progress [im Rang der Hidden Ones] “You can do anything,” Beaulieu said.
At the same time, this also means that you can unlock your tools and gadgets, which should play a more important role again, in any order you like. “Every time you kill a main target and go back to the office, you report to Rafiq and get to choose one of the tools,” it says.
Sounds interesting, but the only question that remains is how these freedoms fit together with the story of the game, or whether it is “only” an assassin sandbox in the end, in which the story plays a subordinate role. We’ll know more from October 12th when the game launches on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
