So remember the name of Eivor, because that is what the viking (man or woman) in search of glory is called that we will order in this new episode developed by Ubisoft Montreal (and 14 other studios) under the direction creative by Ashraf Ismail (already director of the Origins and Black Flag episodes). More than ever under the sign of the RPG, since we will shape the progression of the character by his choices as well as the skill trees, this new episode takes place in the ninth century and will be framed by Norway and then England, which will represent the larger of the playable field and will be the scene of bloody raids against the troops and fortresses of King Alfred the Great, battles placed at the center of the events and action of the game.

Like a Red Dead Redemption 2, a central place will obviously be given to the development of the Viking encampment, where we will share a daily life probably more human with those we used to portray only as conquerors bloodthirsty. Between hunting, fishing and drinking games, we can indeed build and improve customizable buildings including a barracks, a forge or a tattoo shop. And the whole game will revolve around this village in which we will gladly return at the end of each quest and which we will see evolve according to some of his choices and alliances. On the combat side, we are offered to simultaneously handle two weapons (axes, swords, shields) in the visceral combat style of the Vikings, knowing that the Secret Blade has not been forgotten.

In addition to all of this information published on the game shop, which already offers a whole mess of standard / gold / ultimate / collector editions, Ubisoft confirmed to the site Eurogamer that this episode will be fully playable solo (even if we can create and customize a mercenary viking that other players can use in their own raids), that it will allow to customize the appearance of its protagonist (the beard is not a fatality), that we will be able to sail with our Drakkar (more cut out to travel than to fight, note), that we will be able to live the great love but also that the mythological elements will be well in the game, just like phases playable in the present with Layla Hassan. We also mention the presence of 3 big cities, without giving names for the moment.
Finally, it should be noted that this title will adopt Microsoft's Smart Delivery formula, namely that any owner of the game on Xbox One will automatically inherit an Xbox Series X copy of the same game. As announced recently, Cyberpunk 2077 is also part of this program.
