Kunos Simulazioni officially releases news of Assetto Corsa EVO to confirm what many have been waiting for: an open world that promises to be huge.
It is now ten years since Assetto Corsa, the first of its name, continues its journey and brings together car racing enthusiasts. Today it is still considered one of the benchmarks in sim racing, having continued to improve like never before with the support of a modding community. So when 505 Games announces a real new game with Assetto Corsa EVO, the anticipation is palpable. They didn't count on the radio silence in the studio, which finally decided to start with the premiere and speed up communication. As the end-of-year holidays approach, this new episode tells us a little more about the open world. Because yes, it is confirmed.
A large open world for Assetto Corsa EVO
It was time. Kunos Simulazioni finally confirms that Assetto Corsa EVO will have an open world and it looks like it will. In a new video, the studio explains that this new map will be based on real roads around the famous Nürburgring race track in Germany. The developers even went to the trouble of scanning the entire region to recreate it as faithfully as possible in Assetto Corsa EVO, while also developing new terrain technology to recreate the entire landscape. And we talk about it around 1600 km² (approx. 40x40km), which suggests a pretty colossal map. For comparison: Forza Horizon 5's map has a scale of approximately 11 x 10 km. This gives you an idea of the ambition of the game.
An open world that is gradually being expanded to include new areas. However, only part of the map will be available on PC during Assetto Corsa EVO's early access launch on January 16, 2025. In the summer of 2025 it will expand slightly to reach the famous 1,600 km². A huge playground that will be as organic as possible. Every small shop, every restaurant, every local company or every manufacturer is integrated into the game and offers its products.
