You can increase the performance of the Asus ROG Ally by changing some settings. We’ll tell you which options you should adjust.
The new ROG Ally handheld console from ASUS is a direct competitor to the popular Steam Deck. The most important difference: Instead of a Linux-based operating system with a limited selection of games, Windows 11 with its full range of AAA titles is used here.
But the console is not optimally configured ex works. By changing the following settings you can unlock the full potential of your handheld.
Enable automatic updates
You can activate automatic software updates in the Update Center in the Armory Crate, which opens when you press the Armory Crate button, so that your console is always up to date. You should also always keep all updates in the MyASUS app and in the Microsoft Store to be sure that all important drivers and software components are installed and up to date.
Enable FSR in games
AMD’s FSR technology works similarly to Nvidia’s DLSS and allows you to enjoy games at a higher frame rate with little loss of quality. Enables FSR in games where it is available – “Quality” or “Performance” mode is recommended.
Set performance modes
Clicking on the control menu button gives you the option to choose between a boost mode or a silent mode in the control menu. For more demanding graphics games, you can use Boost mode to achieve a higher frame rate. Silent mode is best suited for less demanding indie games.
In the Armory Crate you will find many other relevant settings that affect the console itself (and not the Windows operating system). In it you can control things like key assignments, lighting and much more. It’s worth taking a look at the various menus – the setting options are really numerous!
