Announced years ago, Ubisoft’s Avatar game was shown for the first time today and is slated to be released next year.
Avatar is considered to be one of the most successful and visually attractive films ever. So it’s no wonder that the film series should be continued several times in view of its success. But can you still remember the planned Ubisoft game? Based on James Cameron’s success streak, an ambitious implementation for PC and consoles was announced in 2017. Since then there has hardly been any information about the project – until today.
CEO Yves Guillemot himself took on the job of moderating and showing the first gameplay insights into Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora at the end of Ubisoft Forward. Just like the film once did, the game also wants to impress optically: The latest version of the Snowdrop Engine from Ubisoft Massive (The Division) is used. But that has a catch: The console generation around PS4 and Xbox One is no longer served. The title will only appear for PC, Xbox Series X | S and PS5 in 2022.
Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora will be an action-adventure game that you will experience from a first-person perspective. The focus is on the Na’vi fight against humans. Ubisoft also announced an open-world game experience and a separate story that will also include characters that were not seen in the film.
