Of course, when it comes to the story, it’s all about the evil RDA, the Resources Development Administration. The people employed there steal Na’vi children for a special program and train them to become merciless killing machines in order to let them fight for you. But the training facility is under attack and at the last moment your teacher puts you into an artificial sleep from which you wake up 15 years later. Pandora has regenerated itself and you can familiarize yourself with your true cultural heritage as a Na’vi.
But of course the RDA didn’t have enough and attacked the planet again. You defend yourself with every trick in the book, either with slingshots and bows and arrows or you use human weapons. In the open world you will constantly find new resources with which to upgrade your equipment.
You’ll also constantly learn new skills that will help you move through the world faster, sneak up on enemies more quietly, or control your trusty Banshee better. Because the flying lizard is your constant companion and you adapt it optically and it should become more and more useful with increasing playing time. But there are also other mounts that you can use to move much faster on land.
The environments are naturally very different. Where the planet has already regenerated, nature blossoms in the brightest colors and many strange little animals jump around. The RDA bases, on the other hand, are drying up the surrounding land and killing everything in their vicinity. If you paralyze them, this situation changes again. Overall, all of this is reminiscent of the Far Cry series, which also comes from Ubisoft. You can also choose to play Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora with a buddy in two-player co-op.
