Awesome Games Done Quick 2022, everyone’s favorite speedrun event, is over and the organizers can rejoice because a new donation record has been set.
From January 9th to 16th, speedrunners competed again at Awesome Games Done Quick 2022, which was once again hosted online due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Zig speedrunners streamed their runs, while viewers could donate their cash to a good cause, of course not without smaller benefits. Among other things, a blindfolded streamer plodded through Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice within two hours and did not even take damage from some bosses. Another broke the world record in Sonic 4 disguised as Sonic.
More importantly, a record was broken for donations as well. It brought in a whopping $3,416,729 after grossing over $2.7 million last year. The organizers give the average donation as $69 per person, the highest donation is a whopping $236,656 – someone cleaned out their piggy bank properly. Since its inception, AGDQ has raised over $34 million in donations for good causes, this year to Prevent The Cancer Foundation, a kind of counterpart to German Cancer Aid.
If you missed the event, you can still watch the speedruns on the offiziellen YouTube-Channel von Awesome Games Done Quick bring to mind.
