Game news Back 4 Blood, Age of Empire IV and the Guardians of the Galaxy have all been defeated … by an indie game!
If Halo Infinite or Forza Horizon 5 probably all trust the rankings of the past two months, it’s not the blockbusters that have October under control. The proof with Inscryption.
32,000 reviews at the counter
This is one of the morning’s surprises! Valve recently published a ranking of the games released in October with the most positive reviews on Steam. And in the tenth month of the year, a number of big games came out: Back 4 Blood, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy and Age of Empires 4. But it’s not one of the above titles that won first place because it’s about Encryption
‘The game from the Texas studio has 34,265 reviews at the time of writing. A success all the more impressive as the average of these reviews is extremely positive
Devolver Digital and its meteoric rise
So be careful, however, we need to give a little bit of context and give this classification a little more meaning. It does not depend on the total number of players in the aforementioned titles, nor on the overall opinion: Back 4 Blood, Demon Slayer and The Guardians of the Galaxy were published on media other than PC. The figures presented by Steam are therefore not complete.
However, the success of Encryption, and especially Devolver Digital, shouldn’t be diminished. The Texan studio, best known for its antics during the various E3 editions, has had a particularly rich year of publications and has surfed successfully. To name a few, Loop Hero and Death’s Door received a total of 23,000 and 6,000 overwhelmingly positive reviews, respectively.
