The Definitive Version of Baldur’s Gate 3
The journey of Baldur’s Gate 3 the epic RPG for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC—is coming to an end; but before signing off, it’s getting a major final update.
It’s Larian’s parting gift before shifting focus to their next project—a brand-new IP that remains under wraps. Meanwhile, Hasbro has announced its intention to continue developing the Baldur’s Gate license in the future.
That’s for later. For now, Baldur’s Gate 3 is getting Patch 8, following a leak on PS5 and an intense round of internal testing.
Patch 8 Arrives April 15
In just a few days, players on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC will be able to dive into the last major update to one of the greatest RPGs of all time.
To celebrate the release, Larian will host a live Twitch stream featuring Aoife Wilson, Senior Communications Developer, and Systems Designer Ross Stephens.
The stream will cover everything included in Patch 8—most notably, the 12 new subclasses being added for all players.
12 New Subclasses for Every Class
Each class—Bard, Barbarian, Cleric, Druid, Paladin, Fighter, Monk, Ranger, Rogue, Sorcerer, Warlock, and Wizard—gets a brand-new subclass thanks to this update.
And Larian hasn’t cut corners: these subclasses come with new abilities and summons, plus additional dialogue and visual effects.
But that’s just the beginning. With this new content, Baldur’s Gate 3 is finally introducing cross-play across all platforms.
Split-Screen Finally Comes to Xbox Series S
This means multiplayer now supports cross-progression between console and PC. After the update, players can simply create a group in the crossplay lobby and find a session through the Larian Network.
Split-screena feature that couldn’t be implemented on Xbox Series S at launch, is finally being added—bringing that version in line with the rest.
And last but not least, Patch 8 adds Photo Modeletting you snap screenshots throughout the Forgotten Realms with all sorts of fun poses.
