Did you know that Baldur’s Gate 3 mods have become extremely popular since the release of 7th Edition? Well, that’s not slowing down, as Larian just revealed that it has been downloaded 50 million times by players across all platforms since then.
That big number may not include everything the studio recommended modders do in the mini-animations when the 7th Edition patch was released earlier this month, but it’s still impressive.

“Since mod support was introduced in 7th Edition, you’ve downloaded over 50 million mods,” Larian said in a tweet acknowledging the milestone, and apparently 10,000 of those downloads were the result of you renaming Withers to Bone Daddy . So, uh, it’s nice that we’re able to push that. “
In case you’re wondering, the mod that does this is SydMeier’s, er, “Bone Daddy”. The name of a modder who is very “of his word”, he also allows people to call Karlach Mommy Karlach, Mama K, Karlsnack, and Astarion as Twinkstarion. I’m 99% sure that you can use the latter as your online handle without anyone immediately assuming that you are the one who purchased the sex doll mentioned in this article.

Anyway, since I want you to discover other weird things you can change a BG3 character’s name to, I’ll go ahead and say a few other things for now.
Given that modders have begun using Larian’s kit or modified versions of it to do things like real-time combat experiments, new romance scenarios, and fully custom quests – possibly involving one living in a strange tent dimension Joker – Who knows how high mod download totals might eventually increase as cool stuff keeps coming out?
