Baldur’s Gate 3 speedrunning has long been a near-endless source of entertainment, and the latest milestone achieved by parkour runners is completing all moves in under 20 minutes. Oh, and Catherick Thom was accidentally shot by a flying bear midway through.
Whether it’s managing to sleep with Raizel in a way that even one of Larian’s romance quest designers thought was cool, quickly booting up Honor Mode in under 40 minutes, or most importantly, finding a way to quickly sleep with a bear The community has posted a ton of videos about Harsin getting along in the game, which you can watch if you haven’t already shown them to your BG3-loving friends. Interestingly, the latest of these also involve bears.

Yes, runner Mae is still doing great things and just successfully recorded the world’s first BG3 run in under 20 minutes. Interestingly, the runner revealed on their Discord server that they first accomplished the feat in an undocumented and therefore unofficial manner in the practice room at this year’s Awesome Games Done Quick event, adding: “So I decided to do it again. “
Repeat runs allowed them to breeze through the game in 19 minutes and 20 seconds, with the biggest highlight occurring at the end of the second act when their mustachioed halfling engages in a boss fight with Ketheric (which occurs around the 8 minute mark of the video ). After using Wild Form to transform Shadowheart into a bear and render her invisible, May had her fellow bear pounce directly on Somu, thus completing both phases of the fight in one fell swoop.
How does this work? Well, as Mae demonstrated during their actual AGDQ livestream, the answer is an exploit that combines the bear’s massive bludgeoning damage with the boost that comes from catching someone off guard with a stealth attack.
To be fair, can you blame poor Ketheric for not expecting a giant invisible creature to suddenly land on his jump once, let alone twice in quick succession?
So, GG Mae and I are honestly terrified to see what BG3 players will do with bears next.
If you’re unhappy with your performance after watching Baldur’s Gate 3, you might enjoy seeing this streamer’s glorious Honor mode end in truly tragic fashion.
