Game news Baldur’s Gate III: no release this year, but a big update soon
Larian Studios recently made a name for themselves at the official opening of their new premises near Barcelona. Today to tell us about Baldur’s Gate III, Larian CEO Swen Vincke has taken the floor.
Last April, Swen Vincke stated that Baldur’s Gate III required a lot of work from the Larian teams. As a reminder: The game was launched in Early Access a few months ago, in October 2020.
According to Swen Vincke, the game is expected to leave its early access status later this year. The game has certainly benefited from many regular fixes and significant updates, but it still needs a little time before it is officially released.. The game was originally expected to stay in Early Access for at least a year before considering a sequel.
There will be no release this year, that’s for sure. We’re working really hard to get as much content as possible, but it’s a really big game and it deserves some development time. We’d love to make it next year, yes. We intend to do this. There are no guarantees, but we are really pursuing this goal. – Care Vincke, CEO of Larian Studios
However, Larian’s CEO didn’t come empty-handed, announcing that a major update, the biggest yet, would soon hit the head. The latter will focus on the comments and feedback the studio received thanks to Baldur’s Gate III early access.
At the moment we don’t know the details of what this update has in store for us, nor do we know the possible release date. However, Swen Vincke urges players to be patient as a live stream of Panel From Hell is currently in the works. This event will therefore certainly focus on describing the next update.
Baldur’s Gate III is available as Early Access for PC and Mac via Steam and Stadia. You can find our first impressions of the next title from Larian Studios here.
