For weeks there have been rumors of a Battle Royale mode for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. First, the mode was announced within an official trailer, then alleged leaks to the new game mode piled up and currently make Warzone one of the most open secrets in the gaming industry. Here is an overview of what has happened in the past few days.
1. Leaked map shows Warzone game world
The supposed map to Warzone has already been leaked via Reddit. As numerous rumors also said, this consists of several maps that already exist in the game, such as Zhokov Boneyard or Tavorsk District, and should be familiar to players of the main game.
2. Streamer is blabbing (on purpose?)
In a conversation between the two Twitch streamers »DrDisrespect« and »Kraftyy«, the audience suddenly heard: Come Warzone in the coming week Out?
"I didn't expect the wingsuit. It's been a while since you got the old wingsuit out. (…) Maybe I'll get it out next week. (…) Don't forget this conversation, gentlemen. You'll see the wingsuit again next week. "
Many viewers suspected that Activision paid for the streamer for the new mode in order to create a little atmosphere in the community. DrDisrespect recognized immediately what he had said and denied all rumors, but none of it really seemed credible.
3. Deleted videos return
Youtuber TheGamingRevolution posted videos from the supposed Warzone mode on his channel some time ago. However, Acitivision did not find this funny at all and had the videos in question blocked.
Now they are back and show a lot of gameplay. Could Activision just not prevail here or should this leak generate some hype before the upcoming release?
When is Warzone coming?
So the rumors keep on increasing, which is really starting to raise the question: Why is there no official statement from Activision?
In any case, it is certain that CoD players become even more impatient every day and pounce on every little information bite. On Twitter, the tenor of the community is now roughly the same under every developer contribution: »When will Warzone finally come?
