With Battlefield 2042 in its current state, EA and DICE have laid quite an egg, as the dwindling number of players impressively shows. New updates have now been promised, but they don’t sound that exciting.
Battlefield 2042 is in dire straits, as dwindling player counts and surly fan feedback attest. Actually, the title should wipe the floor with the shooter competition, instead the game fell far short of expectations and was easily outperformed by Call of Duty: Vanguard and Halo Infinite.
In the meantime, some patches have already been released and it should continue like this. Another update is coming today, which only contains a number of bug fixes and optimizations, but no implementation of urgently hoped-for features. Another update should follow in mid/late February and at least implement a wish, namely an improved scoreboard, which should make Battlefield veterans happier with the displayed stats. Matchmaking options for all-out warfare and VOIP across all platforms are also planned, but without a specific date, just “in our radar”. You will probably have to wait even longer for new content such as weapons, maps or specialists. Although a new map has been announced, when it will appear is still in the stars.
