our first look zero hourthe first post-release season Battlefield 2042, just arrived. DICE shared a gameplay trailer showing a new map, new experts, and more.
On Thursday, June 9, Zero Hour arrives with the game’s first Battle Pass. We look forward to a full breakdown of what we can expect from the new season later this week.
The highlight of the trailer is of course the new reveal. Located in Canada, the new battlefield features alpine mountains, similar in some ways to Battlefield 3’s Damavand. The new specialist, Ewelina Lis, is equipped with a rocket launcher that launches what is essentially a TV missile that you can control in flight.
As part of the Tier 100 Battle Pass, get two new vehicles for free – the Stealth Helicopter, two new weapons – the R10 Crossbow and the BSV-M Marksman Rifle, and the Smoke Launcher Gadget.
In preparation for the new season, Battlefield 2042 received another major update earlier today in the form of Patch 1.0.0. It brings tweaks to the networking code, balance changes, smoother animations, map changes, and rebalances some specialists.
The zero start time will be later than anyone expected, and you could say it’s been a long time since no one cared about the troubled shooter. Since its launch last November, Battlefield 2042 has drawn attention for its launch errors, lack of essential features, and unnecessary innovation.
DICE has been working on the game since then, releasing updates regularly, but with little progress – the changes made so far are just an attempt to catch up with past games. When Zero Hour launches, the game will be nearly seven months old, and many, including EA, have moved on.
Everyone’s eyes in the Battlefield community and elsewhere are on the next Call of Duty as this year’s big shooter, making Battlefield 2042’s potential comeback even more difficult.
