Actually, Battlefield 2042 should really clear away and show the CoD competition the finger. It doesn’t seem to work quite the way DICE and EA imagined it would.
After the game was officially published on Friday, thousands of user reviews are slowly but surely appearing and at least there, Battlefield 2042 is record-breaking. However, record-breaking bad.
In the meantime, over 33,000 user reviews of Battlefield 2042 have appeared on Steam and they are likely to chisel thick worry lines on the forehead of the developers. Just 25 percent of the reviews are positive, in other words, a good 75 percent are not.
This secures Battlefield 2042 as one of the worst rated games of all time on Steam a safe place in the Hall of Shame. There, RollerCoaster Tycoon World is currently fighting for 8th place. The list is currently topped by eFootball 2022 from Konami, which only 12 percent of the players could see something positive.
Of course, Steam is just one of the platforms the game was released on, but it doesn’t look good on PC as a whole and on consoles either. At Metacritic, the game is also heavily scraped off with user ratings of 2.3 to 2.4.
Battlefield 2042 is plagued by numerous bugs and problems, including poor performance and numerous glitches, for example hovercrafts that can be used to drive up high-rise walls. A first update has already been published, and two more are to follow in the coming weeks. In any case, Battlefield 2042 has messed up the start for the time being, let’s see if it gets better sometime.
