Cyberpunk 2 will obviously take care of solving a major problem that affected the first work. This change has been highly anticipated by players and promises an even crazier adventure.
We know that the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 looks very promising. The immersion promises to get even better and we can expect an equally unforgettable story. Incidentally, CD Projekt Red will take care of correcting the deficiencies criticized in the first opus. The studio is listening to the community and wants to prove it by modifying a very specific aspect of the game. This should reassure fans.
The importance of origins in Cyberpunk 2
Cyberpunk 2077’s story has multiple branches and you have to make decisions that more or less determine the rest of the adventure. And you have one from the start of the game whose origins are yet to be determined. You can be a Corp, a Nomad or a Street Kid. Normally this should have had a lot of significance in the scenario, but the reality is very different. In fact, after the prologue, the three paths come together and the main plot begins. Currently, the company wants to correct this in the future.
There are things, like life choices, that promise to allow you to play more different types of characters. We would like to improve this in the future. I think we made a promise that maybe we didn’t really keep.
We owe these words to Philipp Weber, Narrative Director of CD Projekt Red, who spoke on the Answered Podcast. He therefore wants to correct the situation in Cyberpunk 2, and we can understand why. Many players would have liked the origin to be more important. Some even go so far as to say it’s a mistake. But don’t panic, it won’t be the same in the next game: ” As quest designers, I think we can see the idea behind it in hindsight, with more experience, more time, Maybe we would make it a little less confusing than we did. ».
A conscious decision?
For Błażej Augustynek, Polaris’ lead quest designer, the lack of any real impact from the starting origins makes sense. You have to leave the past behind in order to move forward and become a new person, fundamentally different from the previous one. So yes, there are still additional dialogue options depending on where you’re coming from, but they don’t really carry any weight in Cyberpunk 2077’s grand story. It remains to be seen what will happen to the two, but it promises a more complex, dense scenario.
No matter what you do, there’s a certain point where everything falls apart, right? And you start a new life with Jackie. Of course we would like it to be more meaningful, but I think the way it’s happening right now makes you feel like you come from a certain way of life. And this life is over. That’s a thing of the past and now you’re living this new life which – spoiler – ends in the prologue and you have to deal with the consequences.
