Normally, rotten food is actually no reason to be happy. Just remember the lunch you forgot in your school bag before the summer holidays and rediscovered after six weeks as a living mushroom culture. Mjam.
But it is precisely this natural process of decay that is currently causing great joy among Manor Lords players. Since the building game from Polish solo developer Slavic Magic went into early access at the end of April, it has thrilled countless strategy fans with its realistic medieval simulation.
Now the long-awaited third update for Manor Lords has finally been released. We’ll tell you everything that’s beautiful and rotten in it.

The Middle Ages are becoming more chic
The first highlight of the new update is the nicer graphics. Because with Update 3, or patch 0.8.004, the game was completely switched to Unreal Engine 5. Several stability and performance problems that previously caused crashes were fixed. The new version includes, among other things, volumetric clouds and an improved shadow casting system.
A lot has also changed in terms of gameplay. This is how, among other things, a Fishing system including fish ponds introduced. The ponds offer you a new food resource and can be fished from a fishing hut. However, be careful not to overfish the ponds, as the animals only reproduce in spring.
…and more perishable
Now let’s move on to the snack I just mentioned. The update introduced a new food perishability system in Manor Lords. As in reality, foods like fish now spoil faster than bread. If you like it more difficult, you can increase the perishability multiplier in the settings – then the food will mold faster.
However, if you have a salt deposit, you can use the spice to make sausages to increase the shelf life of meat. There are also now butchers who process surplus livestock into meat. Fans are celebrating the perishable foods as it was a wish they had made in the past for future updates.

Now the bolts are flying
The crossbow is also new. The powerful ranged weapons can now be crafted in the Bowmaker’s Workshop and equipped by your militias and the Hunters, a new ranged mercenary unit. Whether you should use it to pin your father to the toilet is another story.
In addition, the third major Manor Lords update of course has a whole host of other changes up its sleeve; These include, among other things, performance improvements that ensure that the game runs more smoothly when displaying large cities thanks to more efficient CPU usage. There were also minor balance changes and various bug fixes.
You can see the full patch notes read on Steam.
