I have to renew my PC setupI made it clear during one of my interventions in El Stream and I repeat it once again. My lack of power prevents me from getting the most out of today’s best titles and I have to take refuge in works without so much graphic brilliance.
Be careful, I really enjoy them, but I already have problems with my laptop hyperventilating as soon as the RAM and CPU are very demanding. Just to be clear which body I’m going through life on PC with, I have an ASUS TUF Gaming FX504GD-EN1354. Bought two years ago, it has become a bit of a drag.
An Intel Core i7-8750H 2.2GHz, 8 GB of RAM and my main obstacle, a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050. Beyond the hole that I have to make in the 256 GB SSD, I am limited in my capacity for action and I have to scratch my pocket to make a good investment… or not?
The cloud that welcomed me
This week I discovered that if you search for an Xbox game in Bing search, the first result that will appear will be a picture of the game. The basic information will be displayed there, but a Play button is especially striking. A single press and we will jump to the title tab to start enjoying.
Simple, straightforward, and a feature that is far from essential, but it is a hand that is extended to immerse you in the true ace up the sleeve: Xbox Cloud Gaming. Microsoft’s potential with cloud gaming is more than evident and has become the lifeline for my portfolio.
When I wrote about buying my first Xbox, the Series X, I already mentioned how amazed I was to be able to play Forza Horizon 5, but I was referring to mobile. A cool fantasy, but I didn’t realize the full potential until I tried the platform on PC.
I’m a regular user of Chrome, which has too many tabs open at the same time, and my computer’s Task Manager constantly warns me that I might hit the brakes a bit. open the pc gamepass app It is a joy because of how complete it is, but it is a major workload that I would like to avoid.
A comfort that you did not imagine
Whether for Edge, Safari or the Google browser, I have a large part of the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate library at my disposal in a simple tab. It changes my paradigm. I have been able to try everything: Battletoads, Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, Grounded, DOOM or Fortnite, to give an example.
239 games at my disposal in an experience in which I have not suffered an appreciable lag, with a more than worthy resolution and a sensational frame rate. Translated into my situation, conditions that I could not dream of replicating with my laptop, which works as a point of play and work.
There are works that do not appear in the Bing search to jump directly to the game, in the case of Dead Space, although others such as the battle royale from Epic Games do have this feature. Whether using an Ethernet cable with 206 Mb download and 509 Mb upload, or pulling the usual Wi-fi, the fluidity of the game has not suffered at any time.
full screen, one integrated tab as a native appa simple and comfortable access… It is true that I almost took for granted that competitive titles or titles that required greater precision were going to fall off the list, but far from it.
id Software’s FPS has gone smoothly and I’ve jumped off a certain bus a few times, dying of my incompetence instantly building the Eiffel Tower. I only notice a slight decrease in resolution, but it is so insignificant that it seems to me a more than fair price to pay for the complete pack.
The final consequence has been Completely get rid of the Xbox Game Pass PC app. Yes, every day it incorporates substantial improvements, such as being able to visualize the game time with How Long To Beat or if the computer meets the recommended requirements. However, I can’t get enough of it out of it.
I’m short on hard drive space, rarely meet the requirements, and constantly have to mix work and play. In this duality of tasks, my PC needs to be as cool as possible, and Xbox Cloud Gaming in Browsers fully guarantees it.
Total disconnection
In the middle of the experimentation phase, I decided to check to what extent replicate the same on Xbox Series X directly from Edge. It is a somewhat far-fetched option to play, since it is a preferential way to access GeForce NOW, but here it is about testing.
I cannot be satisfied with the result. The change of sensations was great enough to move me away from this choice, because in DOOM I went from unstoppable demon slayer to miss more than a sideshow shotgun. Resolution drops, which are still not serious, are a bit more pronounced.
On the other hand, the native Bing app for Xbox removes feature to place the Play button in the search, so it’s time to quickly uninstall it. I don’t have to go anywhere far from the PC to be able to enjoy it without problems.
It is true that I have been late to this function, which has been available since last year, but it is no less true that it has given me a new perspective. Xbox Cloud Gaming on PC for browsers is still in beta, which gives it room for improvement that I’m going to want to find out. Being able to play with the power of an Xbox Series X without the cost of performance shows a promising future.
