The saga surrounding the missing Xbox version of Black Myth: Wukong continues; Microsoft has now made a more detailed statement and rejected limitations on its own platforms as the reason for this.
Black Myth: Wukong continues to cause a stir only on PC and PlayStation 5, an Xbox version is still pending – only the reason for this has not yet been officially confirmed. The rumor mill has therefore been full of events recently. Problems with the less powerful Xbox Series S were cited as a supposed reason for the Xbox abstinence, as was a serious memory leak bug or even an exclusivity deal between the developers and Sony.
Several insiders have come forward with their own theories and information, so that no one really knows which explanation to believe. To make the confusion complete, Microsoft, the manufacturer of the Xbox consoles, has now also intervened and made a further statement to Forbes made.
In this statement, they again refer to deals from partners that they do not want to comment on – they have done this in the past. This time, however, they added that limitations of the Xbox consoles do not play a role in the missing version of Black Myth: Wukong. This is apparently an attempt to take the wind out of the sails of discussions about the less powerful Series S as a reason.
Specifically, it says: “As we have said before, we are excited about the release of Black Myth: Wukong on Xbox Series X/S and are working with Game Science to bring the game to our platforms. We prefer not to comment on agreements made by our partners with other platform operators, but we can confirm that the delay is not due to limitations of the Xbox platform.”
The report from the renowned magazine then speculates that there could be a less traditional exclusivity deal between Game Science and Sony PlayStation. However, neither the developer nor Sony have ever confirmed such a deal, which is rather unusual. Perhaps we will find out at some point in the future what exactly caused the game’s Xbox delay. In any case, the game still does not have a release date on the Microsoft console.
