We explain to you the end of “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever”. Of course, be warned of spoilers for director Ryan Coogler’s new film. Of course, to explain the ending, we also summarize the events of the entire film.
Black Panther 2: What happened?
The film opens with the death of T’Challa. He dies unexpectedly of an unnamed disease. Actor Chadwick Boseman died just as quickly and surprisingly. Shuri (Letitia Wright) then blames herself for not being able to save her brother.
Meanwhile, United Nations states want to win vibranium for themselves. Instead of attacking Wakanda, they find Vibranium in the sea and want to claim it. But they messed with the wrong guy: Namor (Tenoch Huerta), king of Talokan, the MCU’s Atlantis.
Namor wants to protect his empire and decides to attack the surface world. For this he wants to win Wakanda as an ally. He sees no other solution, as all countries will always claim only the Vibranium of Wakanda and Talokan. Shuri understands him but doesn’t want to join him.
Namor attacks Wakanda, killing Queen Ramonda (Angela Bassett). Shuri is furious and finally steps in as the new Black Panther. M’Baku (Winston Duke), Nakia (Lupita Nyong’o) and Co. follow her on her vendetta against Talokan. However, she shows mercy in the fight against Namor. Namor and Shuri become allies.
However, in the end, Namor reveals to Namora that he is just waiting for Wakanda to be attacked by the United Nations or any nation, so Wakanda asks Talokan for help. Then Namor will have his revenge on the humans who enslaved his people and want to take what he protects.
Meanwhile, M’Baku claims the throne in Wakanda while Shuri heads to Haiti with Nakia. There she meets a special person in the first scene after the credits…
Post-credits scene 1: Shuri meets Toussaint
Nakia introduces Shuri to her son, Toussaint. This is around 6 years old and turns out to be T’Challa Junior, T’Challa and Nakia’s son. Shuri is happy to meet her nephew. How T’Challa Jr. will continue is unclear. Rumor has it that a Disney+ series about the young Prince of Wakanda is awaiting us.
2nd scene after the credits: Doesn’t exist!
Surprisingly, there is no second scene after the credits in “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever”. According to the first leaks, a scene with the “Fantastic Four” villain Doctor Doom should have been considered, but it looks like this didn’t happen.
Namor: What’s next for the “Black Panther” villain?
Namor is the Marvel version of Aquaman. It seems so. In the comics, Namor is one of the oldest superheroes. He is the ruler of Atlantis, which became Talokan in the film. He appears as both a villain and a hero. In the MCU, Namor is neither one nor the other. But he’s more villain than hero.
It is unclear which projects he will honor next with his presence. With Julia Louis-Dreyfus back as Val in “Wakanda Forever” and set to lead the “Thunderbolts,” Namor could be linked to the Thunderbolts, Marvel’s “Suicide Squad.” It’s unlikely that Val will recruit him. If Namor would appear in “Thunderbolts” it would be as an antagonist.
Midnight Angel: who did Okoye become at the end of Black Panther 2?
In the final battle against Talokan, Okoye (Danai Gurira) and Aneka (Mikaela Coel) no longer fight as Dora Milaje, but as the Midnight Angels. In the Marvel Comics, the Midnight Angels are an elite squad owned by Dora Milaje. This seems to have been carried over into the movies now.
Black Panther 2: Will M’Baku Become King of Wakanda?
Since Shuri doesn’t show up for the coronation ritual and M’Baku makes his claim, it’s entirely possible that future MCU films will have M’Baku on the throne. Will that make him the new Black Panther? Unlikely…unless there are multiple Black Panthers.
Black Panther 2: What’s next for Riri Williams?
Riri Williams (Dominique Thorne) has become the new Iron Man in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. She goes by the name of Ironheart in the Marvel Comics. A Disney+ series titled Ironheart is currently in the works and will see Thorne returning as Riri Williams. She will become part of the Young Avengers.
Black Panther: Val and the Thunderbolts
Julia Louis-Dreyfus first appeared in “The Falcon and The Winter Soldier” and finally in “Black Widow”. She seems to be assembling a team of anti-heroes. She will also lead the team in the upcoming film Thunderbolts. Florence Pugh has been confirmed to star in the film as Yelena Belova and Sebastian Stan as Bucky.
In addition, Tim Roth’s Abomination and possibly Daniel Brühl’s Baron Zemo will also play a role in the film. The namesake, Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, will reportedly be taken over by Harrison Ford after the actual actor, William Hurt, passed away.
The next Marvel film on the release calendar is Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, starring Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly. The film will start on February 17, 2023. The Disney+ series “Secret Invasion” with Samuel L. Jackson will also start in spring 2023. We list you all Marvel new releases!
