We all know that by now, sony transforming it PlayStation Plus If you pay for the most expensive membership tier, adding new tiers gives you more access to a subscription service for games (old and new). Today, this is the final step in the launch phase as Sony completes final deployments in Europe, the Middle East, India, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand.
The rebirth of Playstation Plus essentially combines the aging PlayStation Now streaming with the cloud gaming capabilities of PlayStation Plus, resulting in a service comparable but not the same as Xbox Game Pass. The three new tiers are: Essential, Extra and Premium, with prices ranging from $9.99 to $17.99 per month.
To celebrate the launch of these grades in all regions, Sony has launched a new ad featuring a peculiar man named Mr. Malcolm, for some reason. Malcolm – along with plenty of PlayStation icons from past and present – is the container for all things PlayStation, showcasing what (hypothetically) Sony wants you to feel from this new PS Plus experience.
“This is the beginning of a new era for PlayStation Plus, and we’re excited about the possibilities ahead,” Sony said in a statement accompanying the ad. “Stay tuned for monthly announcements of future games we’ll be offering to PlayStation Plus members.” Never mind me, I’m just begging Gex and Soul Reaver here.
“Why be a thing when you can be anything?” the trailer asks, no doubt trying to draw attention to the 700+ games available through PlayStation Plus Premium. Next to a cabinet full of platinum trophies (nicely), if you keep your eyes open, you’ll see nods to iconic franchises like Horizon, Uncharted, and—yes! – Even the Curse of Bloodborne.
For the past few years, Sony has kept quiet about Bloodborne. The closest we’ve come to a sequel of any kind is the Unreal Engine 5 video that came out earlier this week. Of course, there are also some people who transfer game elements to Elden Ring.
But I have a question; what was the raw steak that Mr. Malcolm fed to the man he had been locked in the basement to represent? Lexi, maybe? Or is it a nod to something else…steak might be “the stake”, right? Vampires don’t like stakes. Does this mean that Sony has acquired Castlevania from Konami! ?
No, don’t be silly.
