Once again you can snag something on Steam, because the standalone version of the legendary Borderlands 2 Tiny Tina DLC is currently available for free.
Borderlands 2 was extremely successful at the time. The co-op shooter received a slew of DLCs, and one of them even led to a standalone game. Tiny Tina’s Storming of Dragon Fortress was such a hit that Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands followed and also became a massive success for Gearbox.
To promote the Tiny Tina game, Gearbox even produced a standalone version of the old Borderlands 2 DLC that you can play without the main game, and that’s exactly what’s available now free on Steam
Of course, Tiny Tina’s Storming of Dragon Fortress isn’t monstrous in scope, it’s “only” a DLC with a campaign, after all, but all six characters are playable, online co-op is supported, and it’s all fun too.
According to the description on Steam, this is what it’s all about: “The queen has been captured and her kingdom is in danger – only you and your friends can bring peace back to the confused, enchanted land. Fight your way through vast forests, unspeakable tombs and eerie fortresses, but be careful : Your journey can change in just a moment due to Tina’s hilarious-chaotic mood. Immerse yourself fully in this epic tabletop adventure and prepare for the fantasy battle of a lifetime!”
In any case, we found the DLC pretty cool in our test at the time: “The Storming of the Dragon Fortress is definitely a worthy conclusion to the astonishingly extensive collection of Borderlands 2 DLCs. There aren’t really many new things in terms of gameplay, but the humor and the countless allusions and absurdities that enhance the basically rather dull banging. Especially since you can tell that the developers have put a lot of work and heart and soul into this latest expansion.”
