Studio Genvid Entertainment recently announced Borderlands EchoVision Live, an interactive series based on the popular loot shooter series. The developers still owe us a release date, but we can be curious. Finally, they are also working on the real-time streaming series Silent Hill: Ascension.
Borderlands EchoVision Live was introduced at San Diego Comic-Con. In the series, you follow the story of eight tourists who find themselves on the not-so-friendly planet Eden-6. Why? Because an adventure safari in the footsteps of the exterminators went terribly wrong.
>> Upcoming video game adaptations: Without Uwe Boll! <<
Studio Genvid Entertainment continues: “What was supposed to be a three-week vacation turns into an ongoing nightmare as tourists find themselves in the remote town of Greywater Junction.” There are numerous bandits and other scoundrels lurking there, which holidaymakers now have to defend themselves against.
Of course, you as a viewer come into play here, or rather the series. In a way that is not precisely defined, you should be able to intervene and steer the fortunes of your unlucky fellows. Reputation, relationships and even rewards are at stake. According to Genvid, “Millions will decide the fates of the characters.” Whether that many people are really watching remains to be seen.
The story of Borderlands EchoVision Live doesn’t sound all that funny, but we can still be sure: The typical Borderlands humor will not be missing. Genvid still owes us a release date at the current time, which is not surprising. After all, the studio is currently working on Silent Hill: Ascension. Also an interactive series, also without a date, is targeted for this at least 2023.
As is well known, Borderlands EchoVision Live is not the only cinematic implementation of the loot shooter. Eli Roth (Cabin Fever) has been working on a film adaptation for some time, which is scheduled to hit the cinemas on August 9, 2024. It will star Cate Blanchett as Lilith and Jamie Lee Curtis as Tannis. In addition to Blanchett and Curtis, the cast also includes Kevin Hart, Jack Black, Gina Gershon and Edgar Ramirez.
