Although adaptation to Borderlands in the cinema was announced in 2015, it has not been until now when Gearbox Software and Lionsgate are moving to carry out this project directed by Eli Roth –Cabin Fever, Hostel, The Green Inferno or Death wish-. Now Variety adds another well-known name to the production: Oscar-winning actress Cate Blanchett is in talks to play Lilith.. Craig Mazin, Emmy winner for series script Chernobylwrite the draft.
Blanchett has worked over the years in very prominent roles in Blue Jasmine, The Aviator, Elizabeth, Babel, Diary of a Scandal, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull or The curious Case of Benjamin Button, among many other films, although the younger ones will probably remember his interpretations of Galadriel in the trilogy of The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit or of Hela in Thor: Ragnarok.
Although Lionsgate has not confirmed this news, Gearbox has been responsible for giving visibility to the information on their social networks from the official account.
