Following the death of actor Lance Reddick, Bungie shared that there are still “shows yet to come,” destiny 2.
Sad news came last week that Reddick, who appeared in many popular series such as The Wire, John Wick, Fringe, Guerilla Games’ two Horizon games and most notably Commander Zavala in the Destiny series, has passed away . Live service games are obviously a living thing, which means there are regular updates, often with more stories to tell. In a recent Bungie blog post, the developer paid tribute to Reddick, noting that he still has a role to play in Destiny 2.
“As the voice of Commander Zavala – the stalwart commander of the Vanguard – Lance has given a role that has become almost synonymous with destiny itself,” the post reads. “For nearly a decade, Guardians around the world have found purpose and comfort in Zavala’s presence, supported by that unmistakable voice, full of strength, serenity and nobility… As actors, musicians, gamers and family men, Lance’s passionate love for what he loves is reflected in the eyes and hearts of all those who loved him.
“We will now honor his presence through his performances in the game and the memories that will last us a lifetime. We are deeply saddened by his passing, but very grateful for the time we spent together, and our thoughts and His friends and lovers are there.”
As the news of Redick’s death came out, many players gathered at Saivara’s arena to pay tribute to him. He’s a hugely popular character in the community, but more importantly, Reddick is also an avid gamer himself, often interacting with fans in funny and silly ways, whether it’s reading fanfiction through the character, or just playing the game.
We’ll also hear Reddick’s final performance as Sylens in Horizon Forbidden West’s upcoming Burning Shores expansion, which launches next month (April 19).
