At Blizzcon 2021 it was announced a few weeks ago that WoW Classic will get its first major expansion with The Burning Crusade. Registration for the upcoming closed beta test started at the same time as the announcement.
And even if there is actually no start date for the closed beta itself, suddenly thousands of players were able to install the beta version on March 23, 2021 – but nobody came to play.
Bug fuels false beta hopes
How Wowhead reports, countless WoW fans were happy when the Burning Crusade Classic Beta suddenly appeared in their Blizzard Launcher. Of course, many installed the test version directly, but nobody could start it because the play button was still grayed out.
Resourceful WoW players know: Of course, you can also just start the EXE file and take a look at the client. However, login did not work because the servers were offline.
So it was at least possible to take a first look at the well-known launch screen, which shows the dark portal to Outland. There was also a first impression of the game options:
WoW Classic TBC bekommt Raytracing: As the following screenshot from Wowhead shows, The Burning Crusade Classic will have ray tracing support. To be more precise: ray tracing shadows that you already know from the retail version:
While the players waited for the servers to go online that night, Community Manager Josh Allen shortly afterwards stifled hopes for a sudden beta start:
“Hey hi hello Burning Crusade Beta has NOT started and no one outside of Blizzard has been granted access. There is a bug that causes some users to see something in the launcher. This has nothing to do with whether you have access.” if it goes live or not. ok xoxo “

This is how you get beta access
Since the beta has not yet started, you can still go to the official Blizzard website sign up for it. You can find the button there at the bottom. No access codes or keys will be sent, access to the beta will be granted directly to your Battle.net account.
