Facebook has announced plans to launch a new game streaming app, which is expected to be released on mobile phones later today.
According to the New York Times, the app is naturally called Facebook Gaming, and it hopes to use Facebook ’s 700 million monthly users to interact with game content on the site.
Facebook Gaming is initially only available on Android devices, and apps for iOS will be launched one after another.
The application was initially expected to be available in late June this year, but the release of the application was delayed due to the global pandemic, which has led to an increase in the number of users playing games and streaming media at home.
Facebook executive Fidji Simo told the publication: "Investing in games has generally become our number one priority because we see games as a form of entertainment that truly connects people." "We found that the gaming industry has grown substantially during isolation."
The app will not include ads when it is published. Instead, it will make money from the "star system", which allows viewers to pay for streamers-Facebook will cut a portion of it.
Facebook ’s Vivek Sharma added: “We do n’t want others to be the background window in the Chrome tab when doing homework or other things.” “When using a mobile device, if you open the app and are using the app, then The app is in the foreground. You ca n’t do anything else on your phone, which is very powerful. ”
