Years after its release, Leaked details and assets of abandoned events in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 have emerged online. User PurpleToaster20 posted over 400 images of documentation, early builds, and storyboards to view on Reddit. This fairly comprehensive overview of abandoned content is open to anyone and everyone to read.
Additionally, the full video will be released on August 18, and will run for approximately 30 minutes with these assets and information. According to the leaker, this massive amount of information was gathered from various sources.
To break down some of the interesting details of the public release, we know from these leaks that the scrapped 2017 campaign mode was intended to be a 2v2 event. Titled “Career,” you and a buddy will race through a 15- to 20-minute mission against AI enemies that stand in your way along the way.
In terms of narrative, it’s purportedly set in a post-Black Ops 3 world where pandemics and natural disasters ravage the world. As a member of the Free People’s Army or the World United, you’ll dash through ravaged environments, and apparently some of the launch maps playable in Black Ops 4 were created with that in mind.
These missions, while short, feature unique events, depending on which faction you play as, that will showcase the unique experiences of all parties to the conflict. Speaking of conflict, there are clearly moments when two teams will clash. These brief moments of PvP will allow you to disrupt the speed of the opposing team’s sprint to the end.
The most interesting, at least in our book, are the four tasks that are almost done based on PurpleToaster20. These include Air Assault Convoys, Data Control, Data Escape, as well as Snatch and Grab. The last one is particularly interesting because it’s a mission that can only be played if WUN successfully completes first place in Data Control – a perfect example of the variability displayed in this closed single-player experience.
We recommend you head over to Reddit and check it out for yourself, especially the huge collection of albums. It’s a bittersweet read because a lot of the readable stuff looks really special.
