Fan-favorite Ghost from Modern Warfare 2 is set to get its own story campaign set in the Call of Duty universe. Not only that: Apparently, Activision and Infinity Ward are planning to give other popular characters (such as Soap or Price) their personal spin-offs. At least that’s what established insider RalphsValve claims.
However, many questions remain unanswered at the moment. The alleged information about the future of Call of Duty is also not officially confirmed at this time. We summarize the most important information from the insider report for you. By the way, you can read what we think of the MW2 campaign in our detailed test:

What the Insider Claims: Ralph’s Valve According to Infinity Ward is currently working on a story campaign that focuses entirely on Simon Ghost Riley and his background. According to the insider, an actor (in this case Samuel Roukin) who is interested in deepening his character after the release of the main game.
Ghost might not be the only Modern Warfare 2 character getting a little more spotlight. RalphsValve describes that further episodes can be developed based on the idea, which, for example, establish new characters, deepen familiar ones and further expand the story of the campaign overall.
What the concept reminds of: In its report, RalphsValve draws a direct comparison with the horror game series The Dark Pictures, which takes an anthology approach. Here, each part revolves around a new story and new characters, while the plots of all games are more or less directly linked.
Of course, the idea of an overarching Modern Warfare universe is reminiscent of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which is made up of numerous prequels, sequels, and spin-offs, all of which are related.
How credible is the source? RalphsValve is a gaming industry insider who has consistently hit the mark with his reports. His reports are considered to be correspondingly credible, but of course you should be cautious about the alleged information about the future of CoD. The report is not officially confirmed at this time.
What is currently still open: It is questionable in what form Ghost gets his personal spin-off. The single-player campaign could appear as DLC for Modern Warfare 2 or be the foundation of a separate game.
By the way, there should even be a story DLC for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 in 2023. Whether this refers to Infinity Ward’s alleged ghost project cannot be said at this time. You can find out what is known about the possible expansion here:
