In a few days, the new edition of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will be officially available. In the run-up there are now new speculations that this shooter part could possibly still get a zombies mode.
Will the new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 end up getting a Zombies mode after all? There has not yet been an official announcement in this regard, but a dataminer has now found a reference to this in the game files.
The dataminer in question is cod_sploitzimgz, who uploaded images to Twitter that show references to a Zombies mode. These references come from the game files of the new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, so the new shooter could possibly be expanded to include such a mode at a later date.
The files contain meaningful text passages such as “Round Based Zombies” and “Outbreak”. What makes the topic even more interesting: The image material was taken off the net a short time later because Activision complained about the infringement of copyright rights; that reports Insider Gaming
Whether a zombies mode will actually come is not confirmed. It also cannot be ruled out that earlier plans for this were scrapped and it is simply backward code that has not been removed. However, the odds are probably still pretty good for a Zombies mode. After all, according to a current Bloomberg report, Activision wants to skip the coming year 2023 and, for once, not publish a completely new Call of Duty. Modern Warfare 2 will remain the most current installment in the franchise for two years – and during that time, players are known to want to be kept on board. Then also with a zombies mode?
