Losing your gritty, laborious progress is no fun in any game. But that's why Call of Duty: Modern Warfare players have had to worry about in the past few days. They received a message saying that they need to reset all of their multiplayer progress to be able to play again. The reason for this should be an incorrect download of the data. That would have meant losing the killstreaks, upgrades, and perks that they have so painstakingly accumulated.
It was therefore all the more worrying that Infinity Ward recommended on Twitter not to answer the question of the notification either with "Yes" or "No" and instead to end the game immediately. Fortunately, everything was only half as bad in the end. Whoever answered "yes" for whatever reason only lost a few records in the leaderboards and the like. The important data, unlocked items, experience points, ranks and weapon progress were retained in any case. But there also seems to be hope for the minimal loss mentioned, as Infinity Ward confirmed that it could solve the problem.
