With Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile, Activision wants to score particularly well in the high-volume mobile market, but that obviously has to wait. A release date is still not in sight and could now have been noticeably delayed.
Activision has not yet confirmed a release date for the planned Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile, but an update to the product page in the Google Play Store does not bode well in this regard. Until recently, May 15, 2023 was named as a placeholder for the planned release date, which gave hope for a reasonably timely release – although, as mentioned, this had not yet been confirmed.
Apparently nothing will come of this for a long time, because this placeholder date has now been changed and pushed back significantly. From now on, November 1st reads there as the supposed release date. Assuming that this “expected” release date is based on some insider information, we should have to wait a few more months for the release of the mobile shooter.
The new date would therefore fit well into the usual time frame in which Activision regularly releases new Call of Duty games – namely in the fall. Until then, Warzone Mobile will initially only be available in selected countries for test purposes. Specifically, these are Australia, Chile, Norway and Sweden.
Activision had described this pre-release as a “limited work-in-progress version” that would make the game available to a much larger player base than the original closed alpha and therefore allow for better feedback. The aim is to subject matches and game progress to a stress test, to find and eliminate errors and to get feedback on various aspects of the game.
The step that has now been taken in the Google Play Store could indicate that Activision could have postponed the release by a few months internally.
Activision has unveiled gameplay from the upcoming Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile; the trailer also gives a first impression of the quite opulent mobile graphics.
