Call of Duty: Warzone – That's how high the system requirements are

If Call of Duty: Modern Warfare runs smoothly with you, then Activzone should also apply to Warzone. If Call of Duty: Modern Warfare runs smoothly with you, then Activzone should also apply to Warzone.

In order to play Call of Duty: Warzone smoothly, you need the same hardware as in the case of Modern Warfare, at least with a view to the official system requirements. Activision confirmed this in an interview with us.

The system requirements are again divided into the following four areas, as shown by corresponding information on Warzone from Nvidia. They were made as part of the announcement of the Geforce driver optimized for Warzone.

  1. Minimal system requirements
  2. Recommended system requirements (for 60 fps)
  3. Competitive system requirements (for higher fps values and monitors with a corresponding refresh rate)
  4. Ultra system requirements (for high fps in 4K resolution)

You can find out exactly which hardware is officially named after the following descriptions of our own first impressions of the performance in Warzone.

Practice check performance: The first test rounds in Warzone with the optimized Geforce driver 442.59 actually showed a similar performance to that in Modern Warfare. We did it with mid-range hardware in the form of Nvidia's Geforce GTX 1060 and a quad-core CPU from Intel (Core i3 9100F) in Full HD.

With maximum details without ray tracing, we achieve values in the range of 70 to 90 fps without annoying frame drops. The quad-core processor is very busy, but it is enough for a smooth gaming experience despite the high number of 150 players. The meter readings are also close to the result of 71 fps from our original technology check on Modern Warfare. It was created in a demanding scene from single player mode and with a much faster CPU (Core i9 9900K).

Visually, the map of Warzone does not seem to be quite up to date, for example with a view to the simple vegetation, missing shadows or blurred textures (see also the following screenshot). In battle royale titles, most of the players are more concerned with the best possible performance than with a chic look, so that can be borne out.

Warzone visually sets anything but new standards, but it still runs smoothly with rather slow hardware. Warzone visually sets anything but new standards, but it still runs smoothly with rather slow hardware.

Note: Nvidia's Warzone claims differ from the official Modern Warfare claims in two ways. On the one hand, an "RTX 2080 Super" is mentioned under "Ultra" instead of the RTX 2080 without a Super addition. On the other hand, information on AMD graphics cards is missing.

The latter is probably the case because AMD is Nvidia's main competitor and the former because the RTX 2080 Super has replaced the RTX 2080.

In addition, Nvidia lacks the information about the required video memory.
